14 “After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!””
John was put into prison and Jesus, runs for the hills, NO. Jesus goes into Galilee, and proclaims the Gospel, and the coming Kingdom of God! There are many places in the world we can be imprisoned for preaching the Gospel, there are some places we can be executed, today many Chrisitans are being imprisoned and executed for “the Faith”. We honor them, and make movies about them , BUT do we pick up the Cross and follow in their footsteps?
Getting most Chrisitans to church for a mid week service is a challenge, getting Christians to go into countries of severe persecution is impossible, but as we know “all things are possible with God” Will you pick up the Cross and follow in the footsteps of John the Baptist, Jesus and countless others proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ? As Paul said in Acts 20:24, “I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
Lord God of Israel, you who calls things that are not as though they are, you who have made us and all things, we worship you, Lord. Let us offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to you, our acceptable worship. Bless your people Lord, and those who give their lives for you, and your glory. Amen.
