“And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” ”
Jesus now thirty years old, and ready to start His public ministry, which He knows will end on the Cross. He has received the Holy Spirit without measure, and now receives affirmation from the Father, You are my Son, I love you and I am pleased with you, all this before He has done a single miracle, preached one sermon or died on the Cross.
This is something we can remember; that in Christ we are children of God, He loves us, and with us He is well pleased. Apart from all the things we want to do, and will do for God, we are His children, He loves us, and with us He is well pleased.
As Christians we all know we are Gods children, and He loves us, but do we know He is well pleased with us? Another translation of “well pleased” is “delights”. Do we know God delights in us, and deeply enjoys His fellowship with us? We all know God loves us, but do we know God likes us, and relishes our company? Psalm 149 : 4
God is our friend (John 15 : 15), our brother (Heb. 2 : 11), Our Father who delights in us, and He is well pleased. Blessings.
